Hyundai Motorsport is Going Electric
Hyundai Motorsport has begun work on its first-ever electric race car, which has been designed and is being built at their headquarters in Alzenau, Germany. The car will break cover for the first time on September 10, the media day of the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt.
While Hyundai Motorsport has become an established name in the rallying and circuit race circles since 2012, the company’s move towards electric race cars is the next step in their growth, mirroring the larger move towards hybrid technology and electrification in the automotive industry. This will allow Hyundai to showcase their high-performance engineering right next to their focus on motorsport while emphasising their use of green technology in one fell swoop.
“For many months, our team in Alzenau has been working hard on an exciting vehicle and soon we will be able to share the fruits of these labours,” said Andrea Adamo, Team Director. “It promises to be a new chapter for our company, a natural extension of our motorsport activities.”
